Marutama Ramen

9:33:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

I have to say this is one of my favourite ramen shop in Singapore. Even though the variety is limited, the price is not exactly cheap, I am still here for a couple of time liao. That's rare okay! Consider that I go round eating, to spend $$$ in the same shop again and again, that says a lot about the quality wor.

The ramen here reminds me of the ones that I ate in Japan itself. The soup base is more tasty, and every ingredient is prepared delicately. In fact, even though the soup base is considered more salty ( but bearable), I will still finish every single drop.. keke

Ice 3 [Closed]

9:30:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Argh... The weather is damn hot nowadays! And the worst part is... I'm having running nose! I'm in such a dilemma status... Conflicting, Contradictating... How could I be having flu when the weather is like super sunny? I'm a complex person... I've finally proven the theory...

On well.... * Blowing nose *... For those who are in pink health, perhaps ice-cream is what you need now?

Orite, you got it!! Anyway, this blog is dedicated to Hanaa: If you know other ice-cream shop, do tell me also! ^_^

Ice 3 is just at Chomp Chomp area, but I never realise its presence until recently. Haha.. it's not really obvious and somemore the shop is kinda small... But I tot it's quite a cozy place to hang out with a group of frens...

The interior is made up of high chairs ( as above), normal dining area and a couch area. Well, me tot that the couch are placed too near to each other, so no privacy! So I just settled with the normal chairs lor....

Ice cream Selection
Well, you said : who cares about the seatings?? Patience, patience my dearies.... Give some credits to me, who still blogged when ... * Blowing nose AGAIN * ...

Magic Potion $6.90

The name is real cool huh? The potion is actually shots that come along with the ice-cream. You can either pick from the pre-set combination or choose your own liqueur and ice-cream. The latter, I think, need to pay a bit more lor...
I like the fact that the ice-cream has a lot of crunchy texture with the generous serving of almond flakes and "dunno what" in the ice-cream itself. But a pity that the ice-cream is kinda small scoop though... Before I could really appreciate its beauty, it has vanished with the wind (pipe) into the never ending pit ( my tummy)....

Just trying to be a bit poetic... Keke

$9.90

Aha, I cant remember the name lor. But it's printed on their namecard, so if you wanna try this one.. Point at the namecard!!!! Smart huh?? Muahahah... I think my flu is wreaking my normal brain screws...

Coincidentally, this one tasted like the ice-cream I ordered earlier. With the same almond flakes. But slightly sweeter coz got butterscotch on it mah.

Well overall, think it's not too bad.. But I will love it more if the serving can be enlarged or the price can be shrunken!! =p

Btw, they do serve finger food here as well, beside ice-creams, crepes, mudpies, shakes etc. And if you visit them on Tue ( Serangoon Branch) or Wed( Century Square Branch), you'll get 50% off for the crepe!

P.S Btw, I'm giving only 1 heart here coz I find the ice-cream still quite normal. Dun get me wrong, it's not bad, but there's too many ice-cream shops liao... So I guess it lack of the "wow" factor bah

Miharu Sapporo Ramen

7:49:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

The other time I went Zenden, happened to pass by this Japanese restaurant. The smell of the soup base was so fragrance, that I told myself I had to try this out one of these days .... and so I did.

It was easily found as you just needed to follow the instinct of your nose. From far, we sniffed our way to the doorstep of the restaurant. Alas, it was still early and so we got to rot for half an hour.

By then, we were superb hungry liao, which would mean we polly be easily satisfied. Fear not, my Lords and Ladies! I'm professional and I shall bring forward the most unbiased judgment. Keke

Daikon - Amazu ($2)

Oh well, I thought everything work in a mathematics way like this:

Equation 1: Radish = Oden
Equation 2: Radish = Daikon

and so, Daikon = Oden

Money Matters

1:02:00 PM Unknown 2 Comments

Just a few months ago, a fren asked me to help him gave ang bao on his behalf. That was like in February 08. Till date, he has not returned me the money and definitely dint indicate any intention to do so. I have reminded him once and he reverted that he would return by end of April 08. Well, I havent hear from him since.

The amount is not "heaven-high" figure, and definitely I will not starved because of that amount. He is currently facing some family problems, and I share my sympathy with him.

If I remind him again of the debt, it would appear that I'm a totally cold-hearted animal. Knowing well that he has financial difficulties, and I try to "push" him to a corner for that small amount of money? I scare I would kenak lightning strike lor...

On the flip side, it's totally none of my concern to begin with. It's not my family problem and it's not that I'm getting the ang bao. So why am I being involved in the first place? It's still my hard-earned money, ya know.

But I guess if you compare the damage for both parties, I would suffer less and polly earn a credit for myself. Haha, if somebody up there is keeping track of our credits and sins lor.

But put the amount and his problems aside, I just dun like the fact that the sympathy is taken for granted. I thought that I would appreciate if he has told me straight in the face that he could not return the money and just say thanks to me. I mean, if you make donation to charity, the beneficiaries would show their gratitude to you, dont they?

It's so embarrassing to ask people for the money they own you. It's weird but surely you people feel the same? The lenders will feel embarrassing to ask back their own money coz it would appear that they are niao lah, calculative lah, cold-hearted lah... all sorts of bad names. Whereas the borrowers will appear pitiful and everyone will sympathize with them.

Why is it that the lender will be perceived as the stronger one, and the borrower the weaker one?

To put myself in the borrower's shoe, perhaps to ask people for money is already putting down one's ego. And to tell the lender " Could you just give me the money?" is over the limits?

Well, this entry is meant for all to ponder.. for both potential lenders and borrowers. I guess everything boils down to respect for each other and dun take things for granted. Feel free to share your comments too!

P.S. I dun think I will remind my friend again, haha, unless he read my blog lor =p

Browsed through HGW and found this shop. It was near my house ( Upper Thomson Road, changed location, please refer to address below), cheap ( avg $10 per pax with no GST & service charge), good reviews ( all the 6 reviewers in HGW gave "Definitely return to this shop" and also there was a 20% discount with OCBC credit card ( with minimum $50), which I had. And so it was a 100% match lor! Keke

The moment we stepped into the shop, a very "strong" smell welcome us. Hmm.. but you will soon get used to it.. Hahahaha. Put the distinct smell aside, the staff are friendly and the shop is clean and spacious. We were all set to order our food!

Complimentary Indian Chips

I dunno what was the actual term, but the "chips" were usually served with Briyani lor. Free one, dun ask so much! =p

Sweet Lassi

This was recommended by the staff. It was actually yogurt drink. You can choose from a range of plain, sweet, mango and salted ( ?? cant imagine what's the taste like??). I ordered the sweet lassi, as it seemed to be the safest drink of all. But then, I still find the yogurt too strong for my liking, so I guess I shall give it a miss the next visit bah!

Cheese Nann

Butter Nann

The serving was really too much! For a price of $2 - $2.50, we were not expecting the large portion. If you are a first comer who wanna try a few dishes like me, just order one nann for 2 pax will be sufficient. Personally, I prefer the cheese nann, coz the butter nann was a bit oily. However, I would much enjoy the nann if there was more cheese though.

Palak Paneer

Cottage Cheese Cooked In Boiled Spinach

This came in a surprise, which eventually turned out to be a pleasant one (heng ah!!). We wanted to have some vege to go with the fish & chicken, instead we were served this greenish unfriendly looking paste. To be frank, this was really not a pretty sight and definitely dun look appetizing at all. As usual, my bf was waiting for me to be the food-tester (Sobzz). Well, it dint taste as bad as its looks, and there were also tofu cubes inside the paste. In fact, I ended up eating the nann with this greenish paste.

Curry Fish

This was slightly spicy, but was still bearable. The fish was tender and there was a lot of vege ( lady fingers, tomato, chilli and other spices) which I dun eat lah. Keke

Malai Kebab

Boneless Chicken Pieces Baked With Cream & Cheese In Tandoor

Even though the chicken was roasted, it was not dried and hard, which was good. However, you might start to feel bored after one or two pieces, coz there was no gravy to go with the chicken. Of coz, you can dip it with the other dishes that you have ordered, for my case, I dipped the chicken in the curry and the spinach paste lor.

Tirumisu

Dessert was not in the menu so you got to ask the staff what they got. Erm, the staff told me they had " Tirumisu, XXXXXX, Chocolate Cake". Really! I never bluff you. That was really what I heard!! =(

I could not catch what was the staff trying to say except for tirumisu and chocolate cake and I was paiseh to ask her to repeat in english. So I appeal to you people who have been to this shop, please let me know what other desserts they have. Keke

How much for all these??? Just slightly less than $30. Well, if not for the tirumisu, it will be just $10 for each pax. I forgot to ask the staff how much was the tirumisu before I ordered and it turned out to be the most expensive item! Arghhh.. Overall, it was a good meal and I definitely be back again ^_^
