Timbre

12:49:00 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Timbre has 3 outlets, and it was only recently then I came to know of the place. Kinda mountain turtle huh? =p

Coincidentally, my different groups of frens were organizing gatherings at Timbre, and therefore I went there twice in the period. My experience? Well, bad & good... *Shrugged*

Let me start off with the better experience, which is the one at the Arts House.

It was on a Saturday night, the place was fully booked & customers were still queuing at the entrance. Business was good, despite of the recession. It seemed to attract the younger crowd, and we felt kinda out of place there... haha.. I must say, youngsters ( meaning those obviously still schooling) nowadays are damn rich!

Bar was still bar, so even though Timbre served food, the choices were limited to pasta, pizza and tapas. But again, the tapas & pizza that we had ordered were decently good.

Service was fairly good except there were times when we had difficulties getting their attention as we were seated at the far corner. This was forgivable as it dun seemed to be intentionally & it was really crowded. The waitress that served our table was really friendly & helpful. Thumbs up for her!

Well, before I get really busy (gambling & eating) during the CNY period, I better get down to "work" and try to blog sth... And not to forget, my exam is next week!! Dumb of me right? I actually choose a date when everyone is happy celebrating..... But that's so me, as the Chinese sayings goes, I will just not doing anything, till the fire burns my backside... and it's really burning now... Did you smell Ba Gua?? =p

Anyway, let's just keep this entry short and sweet... so that

  • those who havent finish their spring cleaning, go clean now!
  • those who havent finish shopping for new clothes, go buy now!
  • those who havent finish buying CNY goodies, go buy now!

Hurry, 4 more days to go!!

(P.S. I sound like some sale shop huh? )

Barstop

6:10:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

This is the place for you if you enjoy "exclusiveness & solitude"without having the need to travel to somewhere unaccessible.

Barstop is smacked right at the city center - walking distance from Somerset MRT. Great for people who dun own a car. Trust me, I feel the same way like you. Other than times when dad's car is available, I have to travel via public transport which can only take you to areas where there is damn lots of people, and not to mention the long waiting & travelling times.

But perhaps for those first-timers, the place is not that easy to locate. It is "well-hidden" along the small lane of Devonshire Road. If you are coming from Somerset MRT, walk in the direction of Singtel Comcentre, along Killiney Road, till you see the SPC petrol kisok. Go right through it and you be able to find Barstop on your right. Hope my "instructions" help! ^_^

Barstop seems to be converted from a 2-storey house, which explains why it is not that huge. So do come earlier or make a reservations ( applicable only for timing before 7.30pm) if you want to "chop" a good seat!

Did I mention that it is a JAZZ bar?? Yeah! There is live performance starting from 9pm. If you perfers to face the performers, then take the high chairs at level 1....

Otherwise, proceed to level 2, where you can find comfy couches to just sit back & relax. The couches are really big, so can cater to big groups. Cool!

********

Drinks wise, the pricing is a bit steep. The happy hours ( before 8pm) only offers a cheaper rate for house pours, beers, wines, champagne. Cocktails & mocktails are not included. =(

So if you are looking for cheap drinks to drain your sorrows, forget it lah! I can only say that Barstop is a place to appreciate jazz music, accompany and drinks. Appreciate drink = drink a bit, not drink like a few bottles and start to be rowdy. Keke

Strawberry Margarita

Cocktails range from $15 - $20, if my memory doesnt fail me.. On average, it is more expensive compared to other places.

Champagne - $18

Lychee Cooler ( Non-alcoholic) - $8

Btw, there are small bites, pizzas and desserts for those itchy mouths.. In case, you are thinking of coming here for dinner, the choices are limited. But if you are not the fussy kind, why not?

Chocolate Mud Cake - $10

Pork Cube with Wasabi Mayonnaise - $10

Xmas Eve Celebration

11:05:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Very late hor? New year is already over and I'm still blogging about xmas eve dinner?!!? I still have my batam trip & a few restaurants not yet post. A lot of procrastination huh? But again, it's better to be late than never, rite? So I ought to be "forgiven" indeed..... WAHAHA =p

Without more delays, I will do a quick summary of my Xmas dinner....

"Wat? Summary oreadi? So fast??"

Ya lah, coz the dinner not that fantastic, nothing really good to shout about. We went to Ami's - Dine, Chill, By the Sea, Sentosa for dinner. I happened to browse upon the place while surfing the net. I thought it would be nice to watch the laser song " Song by the Sea" after the dinner, and so I decided to try Ami's lor. Alas, I went Sistic outlet to buy the tickets for "Song by the Sea" on 22th, but Sistic had closed the sale for it. Having known that the show was quite popular and with only 2 timing (7.30pm & 8.30pm) per day, we kinda gave up hopes of watching the show on Xmas eve, but we went ahead for the dinner at Ami's.

It was a $65++ per pax for the following spread....

Salad & Appetizers

Chilled Salmon Flavoured with Pomelp, Japanese Cucumber & Mayonnaise
Jellyfish tossed with Vegetable, Fungus, Enoki and Peanut
Cherry Tomato and Green Bean Salad, Mint Garlic
Mesclum Salad with Baby Spinach Leaf

Spicy Oriental Chicken Salad

BBQ Duck with Chili, Mango and Walnut Oil

Cocktail Prawns with Spicy Glass Noodles and Lemon Leaves

Heart of Palm with Apple and Citrus tossed with Honey Pepper Corn Vinaigrette

Pacific Ocean Seafood Salad with Pickled Papaya and Pea Sprout

Main Hot

Fried Spaghetti in Claw Jus and Red Chili and White Wine Sauce
Nutty flavoured Fish Fillet with Sesame-Miso Butter Sauce
Braised Yong Tau Fu with Egg Snow Sauce

Roasted Shoulder of Lamb with Stir-Fried Trio Bell Pepper and Prune infused Sauce

Prawn Curry with Blue Ginger and Deep-fried Egg Plant

Oven Baked New Zealand Green Mussel with Cheese Sauce and Chili

Boneless Chicken with Okra A La Basquaise

Roasted U.S. Ducking with Peach Sauce on a bed of Red Cabbage

Buttered Carrot and Brussels Sprout

Baked Baby Potato with Cheese

Live Station

Oven-roasted Turkey with Cranberry Jam

Dessert

Pecan Nut Pie
Seasonal Fresh Fruit Platter

Warm X'mas Pudding with Brandy Sauce

Mini Chocolate Tart

Special Sentosa X'mas Cake

Foodwise, it was merely passable. So really, I dun feel like talking about it.. Ha.

But we did have a pleasant surprise there. Remember I said we wanted to go watch the laser show but was not able to get the tickets??

Guess what? Ami's was right beside the stage and on the 2nd level. Hence, we get to watch the whole show FREE with quite a good view. It would really be unblocked view if not for the trees... Well, since it was free, I watched twice & managed to capture a few videos!! Keke..

And finally, pretty fireworks to end the day...... ^__^
