Exam Fever!!

10:21:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

I'm having exam soon, in approximately 20 days... DAMN! I just hate to study, the textbook & questions are more effective than any sleeping pills. I will just doze off after attempting to do some questions. At this rate, how am I suppose to finish everything in 20 days! Less away time to sleep, watch TV, watch anime, eat, go out to play, work, I will have less than 20 days!!! Argh....

ok, I'm done with my whining ~_~

Anyway, it means that I'm going to go slow with my blogging.... haiz

Btw, do you notice that I have posted up bigger pictures? I thought it looks better! Keke... So I will use the "large" format in the future unless I have too many pictures in one entry, then I will use the "medium" format... Hmm, does the size of the pictures affect the uploading speed? I'm assuming so lah... so I dun have the patience to wait to upload pictures if there's a lot lor... Correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm thinking of going serious with photography and have been contemplating of buying a DSLR camera. But they are all quite expensive and so I have been delaying the purchase. Just spoke to my bf's fren who recommended Sony Alpha 200, which he bought at $688 with free gifts like memory card, tripod etc.

Again, the bigger players for DSLR are Nikon and Canon. So I'm wondering should I just invest in 1 damn good DSLR camera or just use the Sony Alpha which is considered affordable for entry level. Any comments?

Talking about that, we went to this chill-out place at Ann Siang Hill called The Gem with bf's friends after dinner. Real cool, with its comfy couches and classy chandeliers. It offers nice ambiance for drinks & chit-chat, without the need to shout since the music was soft. Since it is resided in the CBD area, it is not crowded on a Satuaday night. In fact, we walked in at around 9+pm, with a group of 9 pax. Yet, we managed to get a nice cozy area.

If you are thinking why I never take pictures as usual, because I DUN HAVE DSLR CAMERA LA! The place was so dim, the pictures wont turn out nice one lah! =p

Double Bay [Closed]

10:15:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Double Bay was recommended by my colleague, who had studied in Australia and obviously still missed the life there. What else to rekindle the fond memories, other than an authetic taste of a Australia Fish & Chips? =p

Since Double Bay was conveniently located at Raffles City, I decided to check this out with a fren. We arrived at Double Bay at around 6+pm on a Thursday night, which was still relatively empty. You can choose between indoor or alfresco dining. Weather was damn hot these few days, needless to say, we chosen the comfort of air con dining... keke

Dinner @ Illuma

10:20:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

I went to Illuma some time ago and realised that it was kinda empty.. most of the shops were still vacant, and the clothes shop were either selling clothes that were auntie-ish or for males... Well, nvm I thought, I could still go to Illuma for food??

Ha, after trying 3 places, I decided perhaps not.... *Pondering*

First, I went to Empire State. The monkey-theme really attracted me, but the food menu wasnt really fantastic. In fact, it seemed like a copied version of New York New York, the usual stuff of pizza, salad, burgers, shakes and blended drinks etc.

But what really put me off was the service. It was not the attitude of the staff, in fact, they were quite friendly. However, when we tried to order the food, most of them were not available. Mind you, it was still before dinner time and most of their food were out of stock??

If so, they should have told us when we were at the entrance or when we were seated. Instead, they waited until we had "happily" browsed through the menu and finally decided on what to eat, then they told " this was not available, that was not available". What a damper! Humpt...

Empire State

Menu

Teriyaki Pizza - $12.90

Consists of grilled chicken, shitaka mushrooms, sweet onions and cheese

Anyway, we settled for just a pizza so that we could check out the other eateries. Well, might as well mah....keke

The pizza was quite nice, with lotza cheese... I like! But hor, we could not taste or find any shitake mushrooms in the pizza even though the menu said so. Most likely, the shitake mushrooms were out of stock AGAIN? Ha...

**********

We were given pamphlet for offer at Xin Cafe, which was those typical HK/dim sum cafe. Anyway, my fren craved for xiao long bao so we went to try out some of the dim sum.

Xin Cafe ( Under Banquet)

Since we already ate a pizza, we just ordered a couple of dim sum lo....

Fried Sesame Prawn & Mango Roll - $4.50

Custard Egg Pau - $3.50

Steamed Xiao Long Pau - $5.50

So how? Based on the pictures, would you order these dim sums? If you do, then I must have done a very good job in "glorifying" the food because they tasted... horrible...

For those with weak stomachs, perhaps you wanna skip the following photos, i.e the "remains" of our orders ... they were really quite disgusting.... hoho

This was the prawn & mango roll's skin. As you can see, we only ate the filling coz the skin was too thick and oily. Either they were using overnight oil or they were using really poor quality oil, tasted so much of stale oil... yucks!

I ordered this because I had such good memories of those sold at Crystal Jade. For those who never try custard buns before, I will recommend you to try those at Crystal Jade, especially those with sweet tooth. The skin was soft and the custard was just the right sweetness! Really nice! ^_^

Anyway, it was still okay here, meaning I can still stomach it. However, it was far from my expectation. The weird bun skin colour dint help also. Keke

The xiao long bao was even worse. The skin was thick and the meat dint taste fresh.

So overall, we left the place with a table of food. At first, we thought the waitress would probably ask why dint we finish it, so that we could feedback mah... Alas, she just cleared the table nia, dint really do the extra mile....

* Shrugged*

I will definitely not be going back there man...

**********

After a day of "trial and error" food session, we finally find something decent! I've heard of Cheeky Chocolates from my fren before, just that dint really have the chance to try it. I think they have another outlet at Thomson Road also...

Cheeky Frozen Hot Chocolate - $5.90

Frozen hot chocolate ice blended, served with whipped cream, chocolate sauce and shavings

This was damn jerlat! If you are chocolate lover, you most likely will like it! But hor, it was definitely not thirst quenching hor... so thick!!!! But no worries, they served water here... heng ar... =p

Caramelized Banana Delights - $8.90

Caramelized banana slices wrapped in 2 crepes, topped with dark chocolate sauce and a scoop of chocolate ice cream

I liked the crepe here, soft but not soggy. The banana was nice but a bit on the sweet side, they were simply too generous with the caramel... haha.

Cheeky Chocolate also sells waffles and some other crepes, I will surely come back to try them out!

Big Breakfast Creation

11:32:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

I bought this cute little pancake saucepan from IIuma. Cost only $5 and it's heart-shaped! Well, it comes in shapes of a star, hello kitty head etc. But I think heart-shaped one better!

Proudly presenting, my own Big Breakfast!!

Consists of 2 pancake, scrambled egg and hot dog... so how much are you willing to pay for such a portion? Keke

Close-up of the pancake

It's made with honey mapled flavoured pancake mixture bought from Cold Storage. Just add water and shake! Not you! Shake the bottle, of coz!

It's idiot proof, even someone who dun really cook like me can do it, so can you! My bf said nice and I think it tasted as good as Mac's. Hoho

The scrambled egg was my first attempt. Not perfect but edible... hehe..

I bought the hot dogs from Cold Storage just in case my pancake and scrambled egg had to end up in the rubbish bin. Heng ar, all ere edible and we are still healthy up to now... ^_^

P.S I dunno why my photos turned up in the wrong direction, cant seem to change it... so bear with it and tilt your head ok?

[Closed] Chin Huat Live Seafood Pte Ltd (Thomson Branch)

10:31:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

After much, much, much procrastination, I decided to "pick up my pen to write again"... erm, I meant blog... keke

Anyway, I saw this buffet being advertised on the TV quite some time ago and have always wanted to check it out. Basically because it is a buffet, it's cheap and nearby. You dont really need fanciful reasons to starve yourself silly!

It was kinda empty when me and my fren reached the place. I guess we were the KIASU lot, being the pioneer group of customer on a Saturday night.

The variety of food was damn LOT! From salad, vegetables, seafood, meat, cooked food to dessert! Well, the pictures spoke for themselves.. I like it especially, because the same kind of meat/seafood came with different marination such as black pepper, spicy... We were really spolit for choice.
