Gyu Kaku @ Holland Village

It was my fren's birthday, so we went to Holland Village to try out Gyu Kaku. From the outside, it sure looks like a expensive dining place, and it is "proven" so by browsing the menu... haha...

Nevertheless, we still gonna try it. Birthday celebration is the occasion when we can have the excuse to spend on expensive food without feeling gulity! ^_^

This place mainly serves charcoal grilled meat and seafood, which kinda reminds me of the Japanese charcoal grilled resturant in MBK, Bangkok. Even the grill looks similiar... If only, the pricing is similiar too.. I will definitely frequent here more often! Keke

Wagyu Platter 450g - $99

- Wagyu Oyster Blade 150g
- Wagyu Ribeye 150g
-Wagyu Rump Cap 150g

It seems that Wagyu beef is their speciality, so logically, we ordered the Wagyu beef. I dunno the difference between the different parts, they all looked the same to me lah.... Oh ya, I went to the Body Show and was told that ribeye is literally the area around the eye area.

Btw, the platter was a promotional item then, so the normal price is higher hor... Please dun get "heart attack" when you decide to patron the place... =p

Cooking in process.... The meat slowly turned from red to....

THIS!

Perfect cooking by the boys...

The beef was yummy! I loved it with that little portion of animal fats, which acted like the lubricant to slide the meat down the throat... The meat was unbelievable tender, with that juice oh so rich..

We wished for more. But you see ar, the platter was to share among 4 pax... so we were "allocated" only 1 or 2 pieces at most for each part.  =(

"Torturing"... but we "survived"... and you will soon find out why.... hee
Cooking another part...

Assorted Mushroom - $8.50

We ordered mushroom as well, which was nicely simmered in the buttered alumimium foil. Too bad they dun have the abalone mushroom or the white mushroom.. if not, it would be more perfect.. Haha, personal preference.

Gyu Kaku Pork Plate - $59

Cheaper alternative to the beef, but we kinda "depised" it though. Who want pork when the beef is there?

But undeniable, the pork was good also lah... hehe

Ishiyaki Bibimba (L) - $11.90

We ordered the stone pot rice to share as well.. Otherwise, how to be filling with just a few slices of meat?
This portion can be shared among 3-4 pax... and they also have a 1 person portion....

SEE!

Wah lao, the 1 person portion is so mini! The price, I cant really remember but I think the bigger portion is more worthwhile...

We were reasonably full by now... but then, the desire to have more beef was so strong... and uncontrollably, we ordered another platter....

Wagyu Platter 300g - $66

- Wagyu Oyster Blade 100g
- Wagyu Ribeye 100g
-Wagyu Rump Cap 100g

HAHAHAHHAHHA =p

Order first then faint.... the total price we paid was $288, so about $72 per pax....

Expensive meal but indeed very satisfying!
