Tony Roma ( Suntec Branch)

3:26:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Haha.. another "belated" post... =p

Went to Tony Roma at Suntec City on Xmas Day itself. Actually, it was my first visit there. Ya lah, I noe I'm mountain turtle. Think Tony Roma is one of those WOW ( & expensive) resturants during my secondary school days. Hence, always feel too broke to go there and that mentality stays till now.. weird ar? Hee..

Anyway, we dint order the Xmas set but rather the ala carte menu, which came with soup/salad (choose 1) and 2 side dishes for each main course. Since we were be ordering 2 main dish, we opt for 1 soup and 1 salad lor..

The bread was complimentary or rather came along with order. Not too sure wor coz it was not charged in the bill leh. Beside normal butter, they gave cheese spread as well ( see, the round yellowish ball?). Good huh?

~*~ Mushroom Soup~*~

See the colour oreadi know not the normal campbell's soup. Every spoonful was creamy texture with mushroom bits..... Nice!

~*~ Casear Salad~*~

**************

Now, presenting the long awaited main courses!!!!!! Dun blink!!

Tony Roma's Ribs

Of coz, we must order the speciality ==> Ribs! The portion was damn HUGE lor.....

See the corn cob? I tot usually other places just gave half but they gave the whole thing! But it was nicely seasoned and grilled without char-ta. Dunno how they do it huh? Can never achieve that standard when I bbq myself. SOB!

See the baked potato?? Also very big lor, machiam kenak injection before. They worked in Giant's kitchen ar.. even the side dish alone can 吃死你 ( eat until you damn full)!! Let me do a close-up of the potato....

Lot of cheese, bacon and sour cream on the potato.. Yummy!

Argh... paiseh, a bit 离题 ( out of scope) liao. Let's go back to the ribs again... I choose one with honey sauce , cant remember the exact name tot.. Anyway, the ribs were very soft and can be separated easily.. That was how good they were!

Tony Roma's Steak

This was another main course we ordered coz I Y beef ( beside desserts, prawns, cod fish and erm.. too long to list =p) . Within our expectation after the previous being served, this again was another HUGE portion.

The beef was nicely grilled without being overcooked, owise it would have taste like rubber. Instead it was meaty and juicy with only a bit of fats at the side. That was okay. I dun like places who served steak with too much fats and I ended up spitting out 50% of the portion served. These are bad places trying to con me of my feelings and pathetic pay... keke

For those who were $$$-conscious as myself, for all the above, we paid ard $90 after all the taxes, service charges. Not cheap but then I guess it was kinda worth it. Anyway, you can opt for sharing as the portion was big enuff. Be nicer to your wallet as well.. =p

After my Xmas feast, which we managed to finish everything despite "complaining" the huge portion, we went to Ministry of Food (MOF) at Marina Square. Anyway, I'm not blogging abt MOF but then my pictures were so nicely taken so I wanna "exhibit" them... HAHAHA...

Cookie Museum

3:14:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

This is one of my fav hangout for a nice chat after meals or a high-tea session with my gal frens. Why ar? Of coz NOT because of the naked statue lah!!! I'm not that 好色 hor! Keke

Anyway, I'm attracted to Cookie Museum mainly because of its unique Victorian setting, delicious cookies and liquer cakes! If you've been a follower to my blog, you should know that I'm quite "neow" in terms of the pricing. The quality of the food must be comparable to the amount of "investment" that I'm willing to fork out.... The expediture per pax is definitely not low. A pot of tea cost approximately $10+, while a small piece of liquer cakes would cost around $19 - $22.

Despite of that, I still frequent here... haha... Poor people can still enjoy one okay, just need some trick to pretend to be " tai tai"! Usually I come with a group of 4 to 6 pax, ordered 2 pot of tea and 2 desserts , each pax will just need to pay ard $10. Guess that's still affordable to pamper myself once a while =p

~*~ Nice English Teapot set with nicely brewed English Tea ~*~

~*~ Cookies Sampling!! ~*~

The service here is definitely good! The staff will offer to give some cookies for sampling FOC! Twice I went there, twice my group was been offered.. so I guess that is their normal practice bah. And they are kinda generous too! The last time I went, each of us were given 2-3 different type of cookies. Hmm.. the cookies are egg-free, so prolly more healthy? Their cookies are for sale in pretty containers, so if you've run out of ideas for gifts, why not come here and try your luck?

~*~ Strawberry Cake Melt ($22) ~*~

Where's the cake? Hmm.. as the name suggests, the cake is melted and the "reddish" pool is the cake lor! Aiya, bery hard for me to describe... Be adventurous and try it yourself!

~*~ Liqueur Cake ($19) ~*~

This is one of the liqueur cake they selling in the store. Cant rem the exact name but with dark chocolate. Because of the liqueur, it gives a tingling bitter sensation, which blend perfectly with the cake. But I think this is quite deluxe for one person, so I recommend sharing. ^_^

Updates on 28 Jan 08
Just went Cookie Museum on Sunday... Arghhhhh... Guess what? They dun allow us to share tea anymore! Well, they dun give extra cups for each teapot.. simply put, it's strictly 1 cup per pot now. Aiya, still can share lah but now it means sharing saliva as well, since ya have to share the same cup with your bf/gf/friend or just that human-being sitting beside you. SOB -_-~~~

Oh ya, I tried Bailey Irish Liqueur Cake.... ;) If ya like chocolate, coffee and cream, ya would like this! It was much sweeter than the dark chocolate Liqueur Cake ( aiya, scrolled up to see pic) and they gave a generous portion of Bailey! Yummy!!

Conrad - Oscar

5:04:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Let's go back to the Past......... * POOF! *

We are now at Dec 15, 2007 and it's MY MUM's Bdae!! Yeah! Thanks to Mum's birth, or else there will be no Me! And if there is no Me, there is no Fun-Hideout! AND that would be a great lose to all! Dun ya agree? =p
(P.S Being a bit busy and a bit lethargic, so that explains the delay of this entry for 2 weeks)

Well, we decided to go Oscar for the buffet dinner. I was the one suggesting the venue after browsing through reviews of fellow members in HGW. Sigh, I must admit that the spread was kinda limited as compared to The Line ( Shangri-La) & Cafebiz ( Traders Hotel) despite of the fairly good review rating.

Lesson learnt ---> Dun believe every single word others said and so....

DUN BELIEVE EVERY SINGLE WORD I SAID

Not that I'm bluffing but definitely these are purely and copy-righted MY personal opinions. Read with a pinch of salt, look at the pictures ( which I think are much convincing) and decide for yourself whether the recommended resturant/cafe is good enuff for you.

Okay lah, enuff of serious "preaching"! Relax ar, dun be too tense up! You can still use my blog or any other similar sites for reference de lah.. Hee

Sweet Stone [Closed]

11:04:00 PM Unknown 2 Comments

Was looking forward to visit this supposingly cheap and good belgium waffles at Golden Mile Food Centre. Finally went there when ah boy wanna buy shorts at the " Army Market" In case sotong out there, "Army Market" = Golden Mile Food Centre. Golden Mile Food Centre <> Golden Shoe Food Centre. WHAT? I'm confusing you more? Aiya, then you go see http://www.streetdirectory.com/ lor. Humpt

Well... Guess what?? Utter disappointment....

Maybe, that was slightly strong but expectation was not met. A bit pricey for a-super-long-walk-from-bugis-mrt and no air-con and maybe-will-be-trapped-if-raining location. And the presentation was neither good also ( served in styrofoam plate and bowl).

I ordered " 1 couple set " which meant 3 scoops + 2 waffles for $7.

You:" Wat Lau. 3+2 = 5 items for $7, cheap wat... You meow lah!"

Me:" Ya..Ya... See pictures first hor..."

Like that for $7!!!

The size of the plate was the one we normally use for bbq... and I must STRESS, the SMALL PLATE can!! And the container for ice-cream, ppl used to contain rice one lor. The 2 waffles and 3 scoops was all what ya can see in the picture.

But I must admit the waffles were indeed not too bad. Crispy crispy one. But then prolly to some, it might seem a bit tough. Ice-cream, normal lor. What? Ya mean it's gelato? Was it my taste bud, but I seriously think it was comparable to those Jingle Ring Ice Cream Man. Ha.

If I am to go there again which I doubt ( food quality & price dun warrant the long distance walk) , I will just order 1 waffles with chocolate sauce...

Five Cent Driftwood Resturant 无角船板

9:27:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Well, this is a creative building made of driftwood and oyster shells designed by artist Li-Shian Hsieh. Every corner is a piece of art. From outside, it just looks like another piece of art. Who would have guess art and delicancies can blend together so well?

The exterior

Pianist at the basement playing beautiful tunes. It makes dining so artistic!

Sculptures at the entrance

Food I cant comment much, as I was with my tour group. But basically they served chinese food. Most importantly, we were all happily fed...keke

Our lunch

Steamed fish for everyone.. No need to snatch!

Milky Mochi

The texture is superb Q! With a sweet milky taste. I liked it so much that I even bought a box of 6 @NT 100. Must try!

Modern Toilet

8:44:00 PM Unknown 1 Comments

As the name suggests, this is a TOILET-INSPIRED resturant. The settings and fixtures are all toilet bowls, bath tubs, shower heads etc. Even the food are served in toilet bowls, urinates and shits!! It is "disgustingly" amazing!! Aha...Before your mind starts to wonder off to those ECP toilets ( coz I find the toilets there superb dirty!!!! Yucks!!), take a look at the photos below:

Wondering what awaits us.... 怕怕

Clean toilets! Seats made of toilet bowls and tables made of basins.

More bowls

More bowls, basins and even shower heads?

Now you know they are just furnitures. So ready for the food?

Our bubble teas served in urinates.

Piping hot chicken chop served with soup and side dish. Huh, where is the side dish?? There, on the right... Alamak, still cant see? Look at a closer picture then....

Side dish served in SHIT bowl...wahahhahahah...

Baked seafood rice steaming in bath tub

Calamari, chicken pop and fries oso wanna steamed inside bath tub =p

Remind you of anything?

A big bowl of SXXX...erm.. I mean ice-cream!

The Taiwanese are just too generous! They threw all sorts of things like grass jellies, cereals, rasins ....

All these for merely NT690 (i.e S$32)! Good deal, right???

Cafe Biz @ Traders Hotel

7:56:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

This was the awaited buffet. $42+++ for a person must be good lah! But then, I only paid half price, thanks to Woman Weekly voucher again!

And I was most glad that the buffet had not disappointed me. It had in fact, exceeded my expectation and my 20mins walk to the Hotel was not in vain (Please lor, the Hotel was so damn far from Orchard Mrt Station.. I must have walked at least 20mins). But for the sake of good food, I was willing to travel high and low.... =p

The spread was amazingly ===> MANY. And it was not just the varieties of food, even the selection within the category itself was more than other places.

1) The Salad and Fruit Booth
All sorts of vegetables, corns, tomatoes, quail eggs.. Use your own imagination to mix and match! As for fruits wise, they provided pear, prune beside the normal watermelon, papaya & pineapple etc

Lettuce & Seasoned Mushroom Salad

The Milo Challenge

7:18:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Do ya know that there is actually 2 kinds of Milo in the market? Well, I dunno until recently... Sua Ku, Tortoise in the well, ya can say anything you want... But I'm happy to find a better flavoured Milo!

So for those who are as " innocent "(aka ignorant in a cuter way) as me, note that there is a Australian Recipe Milo selling in most supermarkets.

Well, I'm sceptical at first. The Australian Recipe is a few dollars more than the Local Recipe. Milo is just milo mah... got different de meh? Must be those scheming merchanisers who are trying to confuse innocent consumers like me and you. But been a person who never say dies ( I'm NOT Energizer Battery or the Stupid Rabbit), I'm most willing to drill further to find out why. Keke...

Hence, I made milo from the 2 different country ( Local & Australia) and asked passer-by ( aka my colleagues) to assist in the "experiment".

First ====> The Smell Test

Result: Australian Recipe was more fragrant than the Local Recipe. Australian Recipe Won!!

( In fact, without labelling the 2 cups, my colleague was able to tell which was which... Dun play play!)

Second ====> The Taste Test

Result: Australian Recipe was more chocolately and milky than the Local Recipe. Again, the Australian Recipe Won!!!

Sad to announce, the Local Recipe had tried hard but failed terribly to the Australian Recipe. Hence, the Local Recipe had no choice but to retreat to the dark corner of the shelve... My condolences to the Local Recipe... -__- ~~~

And the final verdict, Australian Recipe is the much better choice! I shall pledge my faithness to it from now on ( after I finished the Local Recipe lor... SOB).

Zenden @ The Gallery

9:36:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Thanks ( or izzit no thanks?) to Woman Weekly's Dining Vouchers, I'm trying out this semi-lunch buffet at the Gallery Hotel. Dun be mistaken. I dun meant that the food here at Zenden is no good. Just that because of all those vouchers, I start going to all these eating places that I prolly wont thought of going or dun even know its existence. Keke.

The plate was pretty with pink and purple. In fact, the whole hotel was kinda colourful. A cheerful environment sure whet up my appetite... I woke up early on a Saturday morning just to come here to eat lor...

Ristorante Bologna [Closed]

11:11:00 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Neber would have gone to this Italian Resturant at Marina Mardarin if not for the 1-for-1 voucher. Firstly, it looks too high class ( i.e too expensive) for me. Secondly, me aint a hardcore fan for italian food.. fancy paying $20-$30 for a plate of paste? Think twice.. keke

The atmosphere was indeed.... Super High Class! The whole resturant was nicely decorated with paintings. Even the waiter and waitress were super polite. We were shown to our seat by a staff, and then handed over to a Japanese waitress. She will always end her statement with " Sir or Madam", with a smile and make a gentle bow. They really made us feel "privileged"!

Panne - $10
Dint know the "sky-blue" was chargeable and at such an alarming price of $10 for a bottle. Imported water mah...what to do? But seriously, there was no difference in the taste. Think my tap water tasted as good!
Bread Assortment ( FOC)

Paste with Beef in Red Wine Sauce - $22Tasted like normal bolognese spaghetti. A bit salty too. But they were really generous with the minced beef and the noodles. Hmm.. Forgiven then.
Paste with Spinach and Cheese Filling - $23

This looked more like dumplings than pasta! Each piece was packed with minced spinach and cheese. Surprisingly good with such simple ingredients.

Cream Pudding with Orange Liquer - $14
One word => Fantastic! Different from the normal dessert I tried before. Each spoonful was smooth creamy pudding that left a tinge of bitter ( prolly due to the orange liquer) after taste. A perfect yin-yang match indeed.
Total I spent approximately $50+ for a dinner for two. Cant imagine how much would one need to pay to be satisfactorily full without the discount voucher. And hor, one thing I dun really enjoy going to such Classy places is that I cant be myself. I got to eat demurely, put down my utensil softly, talk in a whisper... Urghhhhh... SO TROUBLESOME!! Dun you think so? =p
