The Boiler

It was almost full house when we arrived without a reservation; so remember to make a reservation, especially if you are coming in a big group. Well, if there are only 2 pax, I guess it's easier to get a table bah.
Menu from a long time ago... Lol

This is a very post dated entry, so most likely the pricing has changed ya?
We were given disposable aprons to put on to prevent  ourselves from getting dirty.
Similarly, our phones were also given a plastic wrap. A very thoughtful and smart gesture indeed! It means Instagram photo taking even though our hands would be dirty! Smart move!
We didnt have to wait long... here came our dinner in the least appealing presentation. LOL
Ta-da!!! We ordered the Duo Bag for 2 (came with 2 hot buns) and an additional order of boston lobster.
Boiler Duo Bag (BDB) - $52

The BDB consisted of 8 big prawns, 2 corns, sausages and lotza of mussels and clams. Not really a big fan of mussels and clams, but the garlic butter sauce was great so we polished everything in the bag! But hor, we got a bit sick of the mussels and clams at the end, not really a fan lah.
Live Boston Lobster - $55

So shiok to eat a whole lobster but the price was really hefty. Can try once in a blue blue blue..... blue moon, you know what I mean lah...
Chocolate Molten Lave - $10.90

We were not quite full after the seafood and so we ordered a dessert. I think can skip this bah, not very impressive.

Overall, I think it was a pricey dinner but you just have to try once if you havent had before!

Cornerstone

3:47:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Nestled in the middle of the Bishan Park, Cornerstone offers an escapade from the bustling town area. We went there on a late Sunday noon and there was not much of a crowd. It was a serene dining experience. In fact, I thought it makes a good site for a garden theme wedding, especially if you have animal friends in the gang! ^_^

Next, our orders!

Seafood Marinara - $28

Portion was decent with generous serving of succulent prawn, mussels and squid. It was really tasty and smelt so good when served piping hot. We really enjoyed it although the price was kinda steep given that it was a common dish found in many pasta places.
French Toast - $12

The french toast was really soft and nice, and who can resist such pretty presentation.  A light hearted brunch  for those with small appetite and a sweet tooth. =)
Black Forest Trifle - $13

At one look, I thought this was tiramisu, but it was more like a reconstructed black forest cake. Too much of mousse and cream and too sweet for my liking. Give me a black forest cake from a neighborhood confectionery anytime.

Fish & Chicks

7:17:00 PM Unknown 1 Comments

New kid on the block at Ang Mo Kio!

Since it's near to work place and home, we went on a friday evening. Reached there at before 6pm and only got our food at 8pm. Sobz

Okay food, but NAH.... I dont think it worth a 2 hour queue.
The "Best of Both Worlds" - Fish & Chips with Salted Egg & Chili Crab sauce comes in limited quantity, so do check the remaining quantity before you join the queue. Otherwise, you can opt for single sauce which seems to come in more portions.

One look at the menu reminds me of Aston, with its pricing and options. Oh, do note that the signature combo excludes option for Salted Egg & Chili Crab sauce. If you are like me, prefer a mix of fish and chicken to try out... sorry it's not an option assuming you are here to try the special sauce.

Since we dont take spicy food, we ordered the Salted Egg Fish & Chip and Hawaiian Chicken. The Salted Egg sauce was nice (what's not?) but the portion given was too little. I preferred to have the sauce in a separate container as a dipping sauce. The fish without the sauce was just.... normal.  The chicken was okay, but I wont say wow.

Dont get me wrong, I think the food served was decent. Just like if I feel like having chargrill chicken chop, I will go Aston - affordable and efficient.

Service was great; despite working in a hot environment with intense pressure from long queue of hungry customers, the staff still greeted you with a smile at the counter. I say, we should support the young hawkers for their courage to venture into this super competitive industry and surely we welcome more. Give them some time, I think they will manage better. Hopefully the next visit will be just 20 mins wait.  =)

Clinton St. Baking Company

12:58:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Back at Clinton, probably my fourth visit? Quite rare, as I seldom revisit the same cafe/restaurant unless I really like it and pricing is affordable. Keke
Wild Blueberry - $10

This shake was damn shiok! Many places serve melted ice cream, or worse, flavored milk and call them milkshakes, which is super off lor. It has been a long time since I found a place that really serve good milkshake! Definitely be back when I have craving for milkshake. =)

Chicken & Waffles - $21

Ordered my favorite, with additional side of fluffy scrambled eggs ($6). The chicken was rather small and dry this time round, kinda inconsistent from the last time I was here. *Shrugged*
Eggs Benedict - $20

Wanted to order crab cakes (recommended by a friend) and ended up making a wrong order. I'm never a fan of eggs benedict and those that we had here didnt manage to change my opinion. Why so many people like sour sauce on eggs? LOL

Anyway, with a longer opening hours, the crowd here seem to be manageable and what's more, Clinton allows reservations for dinner. Good news for those who hate to queue for food. Click here for my previous post to read more
