Kamado [Closed]

Kamado is located just beside the escalator when you ascend from underground Somerset MRT. After passing by it numerous times, we decided to give it a go. In any case, my "noble aspiration" is to try out as many as possible, all the new eateries so that I can bring to you all, a more reliable reviews other than looking at the pictures on the menus, which can be rather deceiving... =)

Did I hear applause??

*Bashful*

Aiya..paiseh lah.. gam xia, gam xia ( aka so embarassing and thank you)

Hoho....

There are a few kinds of seating arrangement in the resturant - low chair, high chair, tatami style for bigger groups. You must be wondering, why do I bother to bring this up? Ah-ha, my advice is try not to take the high chairs on the side. The chair is really high (mind you, it is not because I'm short hor), and the waiter will help you to push in the chair. But hor, it's so uncomfortable, especially if you are wearing skirt, and you need to "climb up" the high chair and you cant move around freely..

Next, let's move on to the food... Highlight should be the Yaki! It even has a "dedicated" menu of its own!

Wagyu Yaki - $6

There is a variety of yaki (stands for “grill” in Japanese)skewers here, ranging from pork, chicken, beef, vegetable etc. I'm sure you can find something that you will like. The only problem is the price! A meat skewer costs at least $3, which can buy me a packet of chicken rice lor...But still, we decided to indulge ourselves and ordered the best ~ Wagyu Yaki. 1 beef skewer to share with my bf.

Put aside the hefty price, the wagyu beef was rather juicy and chewy, coupled with the nice aroma from the charcoal grill. But.. but.. it was simply too pathetic to share 1 skewer, and I shall never order this again. It reminded me of the "pain" of sharing... >.<

Tori Teriyako Don - $8.80

If you like charcoal grilled food, this can be a nice option, reasonably priced and portion. The chicken remained tender even though it had went through the flames from the charcoal grilling process. And the egg was just right, semi-cooked with the egg yolk still watery, which I used to dip my chicken.

Yakitori Don - $10.80

This came with yakitori ( chicken grilled skewer), minced pork, egg and mushroom. If you want to try the skewer, probably can order this. Least it comes with rice which will be filling mah... Hahaha

Matcha Tiramisu- $6

Tiramisu is one of my fav dessert. But this was rather awful, merely matcha icecream mixed with shortbread. The shortbread was soggy and the matcha icecream was normal. Such a disappointment. =(

Membership - $25

We were introduced to the membership card, which came with $28 voucher plus a birthday gift. It simply means that if you are thinking of a 2nd visit, please get the voucher since you will get back the $25 membership fee. As for the birthday gift, it is basically a free meal. The card will entitle you to 10% rebate dollar, which means your 10% discount in the current visit will be accumulated in rebate dollar, which can be used to offset your bill in the next visit.

Then again if you dun like the food here, then forget it lor. But hor, Kamado is under the Asian Kitchen group, so you may wanna reconsider? Haha.. I'm not selling the card hor..
