Attending my first Savour 2015 on 26 March 2015!

We were pretty early and it was actually not very crowded. I thought it was probably due to the passing of Mr Lee in that week ; I was feeling a bit 'guilty' to attend a food event when everyone else was mourning.... :x

But as the night fell, the crowd started pouring in.  Was I mountain turtle or what, but this was the first time I knew about this gourmet food festival event.

Quoted from Savour website:

What is SAVOUR all about?

The SAVOUR concept remains the only one of its kind in Singapore; a relentless pursuit to unite the best in food and drink with a wide range of unique activities that is accessible to all.

Over 18,000 foodie comrades gathered at SAVOUR's alfresco event venue last year to indulge in Michelin star and award winning cuisine from Singapore and around the world. The 2015 line-up of restaurants will feature over 50 signature dishes will be on offer for you to create your very own culinary adventure.

The event venue also includes a gourmet market showcasing a plethora of food and drink exhibitors, celebrity chef masterclasses, a hands-on cooking studio, wine workshops and other themed areas. All workshops, tastings and demonstrations are conducted by renowned experts and are complimentary, on a first-come, first-served basis.

We bought the tickets online at $60+ per pax after DBS credit card 10% discount. In exchange, we got a value card with $30 credit which was to be used to make payment at the stalls. *Choked* Really gourmet fare, we felt that it was really expensive and prayed hard that $30 will be sufficient to feed our stomach.

Lots of seating area at the F1 pit building where the annual event was been held this year. Free seating so just grab any empty seat after you got your food.

This was also where we got a free glass of Badoit, which is a French brand sparkling water. Oh well, I just dont like sparkling water.

We came with an expectation that portion will be decent and $30 per pax was enough for a dinner. SALA!
Portion was slightly bigger than sampling size and each portion costs about $10+?

With our total $60 credit, we took a while to decide what to order. Our criteria? Stuff that looked filling enough. =_=

Lobster Mac & Cheese from & SONS
Cornflake-crusted Fried Triple-Stacked Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich from Park Bench Deli
Combo (Ribs + Salad + Fries) from Spathe Public House
Lewis's Smoked Baby BBQ Pork Ribs
Garlic Fries & Slow Cooked Octopus Salad

My favourite was the garlic fries & octopus salad. The salad was really refreshing besides been so photogenic! But the pork ribs tasted really weird and the meat was rather tough. The Mac & Cheese was okay I guess. The sandwich really tasted like sandwich (Dubz!), I was expecting much more from its complicated and long name. Overall, food that we had chosen was pretty passable.

Anyway speaking from my experience, come here with a mindset that you are trying out gourmet food from Singapore (majority) and all over the world and not to do a feast of sampling a variety of gourmet food. Ok maybe not, you can do a feast here but be prepared to pay more than $60+ ( entrance fee).

After our not so satisfying dinner and we were determined not to spend a single cent more, we explored the rest of the area.

We went inside this dome-shaped indoor where cooking studio ( have to sign up in advance) and celebrity chef auditorium was held. No idea how to sign up since I didnt really read through the website, it was a last minute decision to attend Savour 2015.
We got to decorate our free donut...
And I thought mine was really nice! Heehee
More seating areas....

Next we went to Jason Market at the 2nd floor where there was cooking demonstration, vegetable & fruits produce, meat, wine etc

There were also live seafood! You can buy the seafood and they would do the cooking, I guess at an extra cost? Remember I said we were determined not to spend extra money?
But we finally 'gave in' and paid extra for this icecream served in coconut. The ice-cream was really milky, just the way we liked it! Our best 'food' that we had on that day! =p
