Wanted to go for cheap - & - lotza varieties makan place, and so I went to try out this Japanese buffet. It was a saturday nite and, oddly quiet though. Nvm that, I was thinking, perhaps it was due to the not- so- accessible location ( Upper Thomson Rd) or perhaps because it was drizzling?

Price Board
Buffet Menu
The varieties looked okay, from one glance. So we wasted no time and started ordering. The art of buffet eating was to order quick and fast!! Order the more expensive stuff first and if ya tummy still have some left-over, then ya can order the rest... hee

Salmon Sashimi

Chunky salmon sashimi. Great for sashimi - lovers! Yet the chef decided to dice the salmon rather than slice, odd maner of presentation I would say. But the fishes were fresh enuff. Make worth your penny by ordering this!

Saba

One of my fav dish. The meat was sweet and firm, in the manner I like it. The presentation might not be good.. but trust me, it was really one of the better choice here liao.. =p

Cold Soba

Green Peas

Chawanmushi

Yakiniku ( Pan-Fried Beef)
This was surprisingly good. The teriyaki sauce was just nice. The beef was thinly sliced and tender. Must order this!

Yakitori ( Chicken Skewers)
Fried Assortment: Shitake, Hotate, Ebi

Well, I was expecting Tempura Ebi when I ordered this. Take a look at the buffet menu again... hmm, they had Ebi ( Fried Prawn) AND Ebi Fry ( Fried Prawn). Which was my order?? Arghhh.. dunno leh! But who cares! The prawns taste okay, lightly salted. But I dun really like the batter for the scallop. It was not crispy enuff, in fact it taste too much flour. So I removed the batter and just ate the scallop inside.... Hoho

Agedashi Tofu

Potato Salad

Tempura Squid Ring

Argh!! The same batter I guess?? The batter was too thick and the squid was too little! If you look at it cross-sectionally, it would be something like this.....

Soft Shell Crab

Grilled Swordfish

I dun really like this. Hmm, taste like super rubbery eel? I dunno, it dint taste like fish to me at all. Call me mountain turtle, but I neber ate swordfish before. So I was not too sure whether it was the fish itself that was yucky, or the manner it was being cooked here.. Dun believe me, try at your own risk! Humpt!

California Handroll

Ebi Handroll

Fruits

This was one of the best dish!! Haha.. water melon was superb sweet and it was served in a big portion!

Food, I think it was just okay ( meaning okay to give it a miss). Well except for a few like Yakiniku, Saba and Sashimi. It would make worth the price if ya just keep ordering these few dishes. The batter fries were a no-no for me, coz the batter was yucky. The rest, hmm... like sakae sushi standard bah. The advantage here was becuase it was a buffet style, so ya can order anything you like without the need to do a mental calculation of the total bill.. keke. Or perhaps ya just wanna stuff urself silly, and make sure ya do, otherwise quality of food is not worth the money.

Anyway, I made a wrong calculation. In HGW, it showed that there was a 20% when using HSBC. So I happily tot that my bill would be 23+ , less 20%. ALAS!! When payment time, then I was informed discount not applicable for buffet!! Faintz sia... I paid like $25 per pax in the end... SOB SOB. Personally, I think it was not worth the price...

P.S Ah-ha, u tot I forgot to put my rating, arent you? NAH!!! I just felt that it was not some place I would recommend so I am leaving out the rating ( meaning it fall below my minimum rating score). AGAIN, THIS WAS MY BLOG, SO MY OPINIONS>>> DUN QUOTE ME. =p

Tampopo

Went to Liang Court to view HD TV ( Audio House) on one of the Saturday and saw Xiang Yun, Edmund Chen & family at the basement supermarket! OMG, Xiang Yun really talked like a DJ, her Chinese was so 标准 ( fluent)! Keke..

Oh, a bit side-tracked liao. Anyway, we went to Tampopo since we were there and my fren recommended the place to me before. The place was quite packed despite of the poor location ( Liang Court basement). The food there was kinda pricey also. Juz to have a better gauge, I took a few pictures of the menu ( me prof one, okie >.<) ....

BBQ Ideas!

Juz wanna share some of my "special recipes" for BBQ. If you have, do write me a comment so that we can share with everyone else!

1) Lemongrass
2) Beer
3) Chopped garlic
4) Sambal Chilli
5) Mozzarella cheese ( Sprinkled a bit on top of slices and wrap in aluminium foil)

Marination for Meat

1) Honey
2) Chopped garlic

Suggestion for Food Variety

1) Pumpkin Cubes
2) Skewers which include button mushroom, capsicum, pineapple & chicken/pork.

( P.S Tot grilled capsicum and pineapple really tasted good. Trust me, ya..coz I'm normally dun eat those two things de.. keke. Oh ya, if using toaster at home, ya can sprinkled mozzarella cheese on the skewers too! )

Desserts

1) Use alumium foil to make a container. Melt chocolate bar in the container. Dip with banana, strawberries etc... Tata, ya got ur own FONDUE!

Prego

Guess wat? I got.... FREE voucher again!! It was a $65 cash voucher and we can choose one from the 6 cafe/resturants at Swissotel stated in the voucher. HAHAHAHAHAA.... ^__^

Anyway, we had a hard time deciding which one to choose. Either not yet opened or closed for dinner or too expensive ( i.e prolly need to top up another $100 to satisfy my hunger) or just not worth to use the voucher.. -__-" We got no other better choice and so ended up at Prego. Anyway got free voucher mah, so no further complaints!

Well, this was the 2nd time I went to Prego. The first time I went, tink I had pasta, nothing fantastic considering that the price was not cheap. But the tirumisu was good and so I definitely got to order the tirumisu again! Keke

Typical of an Italian resturant, we were again been fed bread but with NO BUTTER!! Grrrr... I always like to have LOTZA butter on my bread and now I was deprived of such an enjoyment! Humpt.. free one how to complain?? Anyway, they gave us some spaghetti /tomato alike cold sauce to go along with the bread. It was actually quite weird at first but guess it was something different. And I must admit freshly baked bread was just too good and we finished everything in no time.

This bottle was quite interesting leh. It was in fact a bottle ( black vinegar) within a bottle (olive oil). Hmm, wondering where did they get this?

Back to main topic => FOOD!!

Now proudly presenting, our 2 main dish......

Salmon with foam-alike sauce ($30+)

What can I say? Normal salmon with weird foam sauce.... cant exactly say it was not nice to eat. Just so-so lor....

Pork with mashed potato ($30+)

Pork was kinda juicy, but after few bites I started to feel "exhausting". Ya know lah, pork was not as tender compared to chicken. I can felt my jaws under pressure and I dont have the mood to finish everything. That can be consider one of the Wonders liao, as usually I would polish my plate clean one lor...

Finally.. Tirumisu!!!!!

Layers of mascapone cheese & liqueur soaked sponge fingers. Topped it off with coffee/ cocoa powder.....MmmmMMM.. Marvelicious ( Marvelous + Delicious)!!

The whole bill came up to around $90+, including free bread, 2 main course and 1 dessert. The service was definitely good, ambience was homely ( because a lot of families gathering there?). Worth it? Well, I'm not sure... but I just feel that I could pay for similar stuff at a lower price. Haha... in any case, we just paid around $30 after utilising the voucher and so we were very very happy..

Showcase time!! Huh, what?? My photograhy skills lah! DUBZ....

Familiar flower pot? Aiya... same one as 2nd photo mah... scroll up to see lor....

Nectarie_Le'Dessert Patisserie

I passed by this shop at Clarke Quay when I went Liang Court recently. It's a dessert shop located somewhere near The Clinic, that sell the standard stuff like waffles , cakes & ice-cream. So what's so special huh, u ask me?

Ah-Ha, they have home-made icecream like Lavender Honey, Jack Daniels & ....... I forgot wat else. This is of coz, on top, of the normal flavour you can find in other ice-cream shops which I shall not elaborate. I ordered the Lavendar Honey ( one scoop at $4) and found it delightfully unique. Well, for some people, they might find themselves seemed to be eating soap or body lotion. So dun say I never warn hor... try it if you are sick of the normal mocha, black sesame and blah blah ice-cream!
Anyway, I dint take any picture of the ice-cream, nothing special with some vanilla-look alike scoop in a cup. BUT of coz, being a considerable blogger, I have instead attached some photo of a lavendar farm I visited at Perth ( Margaret River) few years ago... =p
