Batam Weekend

Yup, went to Batam again over the weekend, the 2nd time in 2 months period. But the offer seemed too appealing to refuse and I really wanted to get away........ So whack lah!

The offer of $199 included a bedroom suite ( WOW) at Holiday Inn, ferry tickets and a 2 hour spa treatment. The price excluded taxes and weekend surcharge, which all in all, added up to roughly less than $250 per pax. Anyway, the timing was just neat, you would depart in Sat noon and back in Sun noon. No need to take any annual leave at all, great for ppl like me who have pathetic number of AL. -__-|||

Anyway, I was quite skeptical at first regarding the hotel & the bedroom suite. But the minute we reached Holiday Inn, we were like jaws dropped. It was so different from the other resorts that I've stayed before in Batam. It looked more like a condominium, with all the facilities like swimming pool, gym, tennis court etc

Well, I took some pictures of the hotel from the balcony of our room...

Cute right? From the top, the ground landscape looked so much like miniature... Keke

Hold your breathe! Let me "showed" you our room... And yes, for those who need the spiritual calling for 4 numbers... try 4709 ( Disclaimer: I DO NOT provide guarantee of the 4 numbers as winning numbers =p)

Ta-Ta! Bedroom 1

Bedroom 2

Ya man! It was really a suite with 2 bedrooms! Such a waste as there was only me & fren staying. The room can easily fit in with 4 - 5 pax lor.

Furthermore, there was a living room and balcony!

And yes, 2 bathrooms too. No need to fight for toilets!

Well, we spent sometime in the bedroom playing cards and nua-ing and before long, it was time for our spa!!

Did I mention that it was a 2 hour spa?? Oh.. YES, I DID!

But I didnt say that it was a 2 hour spa including scrub, milk wrap and massage, rite? And of coz free usage of the spa's jacuzzi, steam & sauna... hehe

Haha, I cant really take pictures while I was enjoying my treatment. Highly private! But the experience was really good. Staff there were really polite, whatever they would ask you to do, for example place your feet in the hot water etc, they would just end off with a "thank you". You just feel so pampered there..... =)

After the treatment, we went around the hotel while waiting to go for dinner. It was not very big lah, so we finished "touring" the hotel in less than 20minutes.. Haha....

What to do? Still too early for dinner leh.... Take pictures lah!

*********

Finally, it was time to makan! Food there was not cheap. For example, the terrace cafe offered buffet dinner at S$39++ per pax, the japanese restaurant was offering teppanyaki meals at around $60 or more... I cant really recall. So we ended up in a thai resturant, which cost us $33 per person. So expensive!! Heng, it was just 1 meal....

Prawn Crackers (FOC)

Chicken Wrapped in Pandan Leaves

This was actually not too bad, but hor the serving was so tiny! You can just finished 1 piece in 1 mouthful, not too mention, there was only 5 pcs to share among the 2 of us....

Phat Thai

A tab too plain as compared to those offered at Thai Express. Well, just had to add a lot of chilli flakes lor....

Popiah

This was the best dish. The filling was crunchy with fresh vege & prawn filling, and it came together with a peanut sauce dipping.

Tom Yum Soup

This was a thumb down. It was too sour! We just ate the seafood and left the soup.... =(

Mango with Sticky Rice

This was a let-down as well. The rice was too plain and too sticky. The only good thing was the mango, least it was still sweet...

Overall, the food there was not fantastic, so dun look forward for feasting here. But if you just want serenity, relax, a cheaper getaway... yes, I think this makes a good choice...
