Geneva, Swizerland - Accomodation & Food
After spending 3 days in the scenic Interlaken, we moved on to the next city, Geneva. This is the city that I've spent the "least effort" in my planning coz we just signed up day tour with Viator for 2 days. =pAccommodation
We choose to stay in Design Hotel F6, as it was relatively walking distance from the station. It was actually not easy to find since it is not located on the main street. So do look out for the sign after 10mins walk from the station and turn into the back alley to find it.
The room was okay with the basic facilities (towel, hair dryer etc). In addition, each of us got to choose a nespresso capsule at the reception as there was a nespresso machine in the room. And we were lucky enough to get the highest floor and therefore a roof window. =)
The reception also passed us a Geneva pass for free transport in the city during our stay in Geneva. So hold your horses if you are trying to book transport online in Switzerland. Research first and check with the hotel for free transport passes.
Food
Address: 1, rue Puits-St-Pierre - 1204 Genève
Our Orders:
Cheese Fondue - CHF 25.50
Filet de Perche - CHF 31
Total = CHF 56.50 (tax inclusive)
We decided to try the cheese fondue again and...... conclusion was the same. The cheese tasted bitter and it was kinda boring to just eat bread with cheese. After this meal, we made up our mind not to order cheese fondue again. The fish, on the other hand, was plain but with no stinky smell. It kinda satisfied our craving for seafood.
2) Crepe shop @ Lausanne (Day Tour)
Our Orders:
The Super Filled - CHF 23
Crepe with Strawberry Jam & Icecream - CHF 11.50
The "Super Filled" was described as buckwheat crepe stuffed with delicious ingredients for big appetites. Ingredients included stuff like ham, tomato, mushroom and onion. Crepe was very thin that you almost feel like not eating it. The sweet crepe was pretty normal with just strawberry jam and nothing else.
Address: 6, Place du Bourge de Four 1204 Genève
Our Orders:
1/2 Poulet - CHF 14.90
Salade Campagnarde - CHF 14.90
Total = CHF 29.80 (tax inclusive)
4)
Random crepe shop along the Geneva lake. Quite like it coz it came with generous serving of chocolate filling!
5) Holy Cow!
Address: 22, Place Cornavin 1201 Genève
Our Orders:
Big Beef - CHF 9.90 (ala carte)
Camembert & Cranberry - CHF 20.90 (set meal, inclusive of fries + drink)
Total = CHF 30.80 (tax inclusive)
You can easily spot this restaurant with its cute decoration just opposite the Gare Cornavin station. We wanted a quick dinner before going for the Geneva Summer Firework display and so settled for burgers and fries. Burgers were normal but came in a big portion.
